Terms of Service
The short version
- Accounts are for adults. Children play under a grown-up's account.
- Free is free. Paid plans renew monthly until you cancel, and you can cancel anytime.
- Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record.
- If you're not happy with your first payment, ask within 14 days for a refund.
- AI-made questions can contain mistakes, so please report them.
- Be kind and don't misuse challenges or classes.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and [legal name of the business or person running BookyPlay] ("BookyPlay", "we", "us") for the BookyPlay website, games and app (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Who can use BookyPlay
- Account holders must be adults: 18 or over, or the age of majority where you live. Only an adult may sign in, add profiles or buy a plan.
- Children may play the free stages without an account, or under a profile that a parent, guardian or teacher creates. You are responsible for how children use the Service under your account.
- Teachers using teacher mode confirm they have their school's permission, and that they'll ask students to use first names only.
3. Your account
You sign in with Google. Keep your Google account and parent PIN secure, and tell us if you think someone has used your account without permission. The parent PIN is a gate that keeps children out of billing and grown-up profiles. It isn't a security system for adults sharing a device.
4. Plans, billing and renewals
- Free gives access to the first stage of each game. Plus and Family are paid subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly, and their features are described on our plans section and in the app. School licenses are sold by written quote and invoice, under the terms of that quote.
- Merchant of record. Purchases are sold and processed by Lemon Squeezy, which handles payment, sales tax and VAT, and receipts. Lemon Squeezy's terms also apply to your purchase.
- Price. The price, including any tax, is shown at checkout before you pay. We may change prices for future billing periods. If we do, we'll tell you at least 30 days in advance, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
- Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew at the end of each billing period (every month, or every year for yearly billing) and are charged to your payment method until you cancel.
- Upgrades from Plus to Family, or from monthly to yearly billing, take effect immediately. You're charged the prorated difference for the rest of the current billing period, then the new price each period after that. Switching to a smaller plan or to monthly billing credits the difference to your next bill.
- Monthly allowances, such as custom AI subjects and challenges, reset on the 1st of each month and don't roll over.
5. Cancelling and refunds
- Cancel anytime from the account menu (Billing, then Manage subscription), or by emailing us. You keep paid features until the end of the month you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- First-payment refund. If you're unhappy with your first payment on a plan, email contact@workcmd.com within 14 days of paying and we'll refund it in full.
- Other refunds are at our discretion, except where the law requires them, for example if the Service is faulty and we can't fix it.
- UK and EU consumers. You normally have 14 days to cancel a digital service. When you start using paid features straight away, you agree that the service begins at once, so you may lose that right for the part already provided. The first-payment refund above still applies.
6. Custom subjects and AI
- You own what you type into a custom subject. You give us permission to store it, process it (including with our AI providers) and show it to you and to anyone you share it with through challenges or classes.
- AI can make mistakes. We check generated questions automatically, but we can't guarantee every question is accurate or suitable. Please review subjects before using them with a class, and report errors to us.
- Don't put personal information, or anything you don't have the right to use, into prompts.
7. Fair use
Please don't:
- use challenges, classes or names to bully, harass or share inappropriate content;
- try to get around plan limits, the parent PIN or other access controls;
- copy, scrape, reverse-engineer or resell the Service or its content;
- overload, attack or interfere with the Service;
- break any law while using the Service.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where reasonable, we'll explain why and give you a chance to respond.
8. Our content
The games, art, characters, voices, code and lessons belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them through the Service for learning. Teachers may use the Service with their classes.
9. Changes and availability
We're always improving BookyPlay, so games and features may change. We'll try to keep the Service available, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. If we remove a major paid feature, we'll tell you, and you can cancel or ask for a fair refund for the unused period.
10. Our responsibility to you
BookyPlay is an educational aid. It doesn't replace school, teachers or professional advice, and we don't guarantee particular learning results. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Otherwise, as far as the law allows, we're not liable for losses that weren't foreseeable, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
11. Ending your account
You can stop using BookyPlay at any time and ask us to delete your account. Cancel any subscription first. We may close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [country / state where the business is registered]. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts. Please contact us first. Most problems can be fixed quickly by email.
13. Changes to these terms
If we make important changes, we'll tell account holders at least 30 days in advance. If you keep using BookyPlay after the changes take effect, you accept them. If you don't agree, you can cancel before they apply.
